Upminster Masonic Hall opens ‘new’ Constellation Temple!

Upminster Masonic Hall

Upminster Masonic Hall Ltd recently refurbished the large temple at Deyncourt Gardens. They held a grand opening on Monday the 8th September 2014. There were around ninety guests present.

The RW Provincial Grand Master of Essex arrived at the Upminster Masonic Hall in the morning. He officially opened the temple prior to an explanation of the work that had been carried out. Afterwards there was a buffet lunch.

The works included the removal of the existing wood panelling on the walls and the existing ceiling. A new ceiling was erected complete with modern lighting and a new ‘glory’ in its centre. The central section of the ceiling includes small LEDs to represent stars. These are laid out in the forms of the signs of the Zodiac. They should be very effective during a third degree ceremony. The centre section also incorporates separately switched hidden lighting above the cornice. The perimeter of the ceiling has various flush luminaires fitted. They can also be switched in groups to achieve the desired effect. The wall lighting comprises specially manufactured uplighters designed to give the appearance of Grecian torches.

The parquet flooring has been sanded and finished in a much lighter colour than previously. Set into its centre is a chequered stone effect inlay to replace the old carpet.

Upminster Masonic Hall has also replaced the air conditioning system and incorporated modern vents to reduce drafts. The system provides efficient cooling, heating and ventilation to the temple.

Much praise was given to all those involved in the project. Many thanks were expressed for all their hard work and dedication in completing within the tight time schedule. Especial thanks was given to Bill Caten for overseeing the works and making sure they were completed to such a high standard.
