ISM Lodge Meeting – 4th July 2015

The Incorporated Society of Musicians Lodge No 2881 (ISM) welcomed brethren from St Laurence to their meeting on the 4th July 2015 at Freemasons’ Hall.

They passed our brother Perry in a superb ceremony during which all the officers performed to the high standard we have come to expect of them. Twelve brethren and their guests from St Laurence attended the meeting to support Perry and W Bro Len West gave an outstanding long explanation of the 2nd degree working tools.

The Master of the lodge is American and as the 4th July is the day his countrymen celebrate their independence we had a special visitor. The inner guard advised that there was a report and on seeing who sought admission it transpired that W Bro George Washington, the 1st President of the United States was outside the door of the lodge and requested admission. He was admitted and presented to the Worshipful Master, who offered him the gavel. W Bro Washington gracefully accepted and took the chair. He entered into an interesting description of the events leading to the American Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States before processing out of the lodge.

After the meeting 47 brethren dined in perfect harmony at the Hercules Pillars in Great Queen Street and were entertained by ‘One Screw Loose’, a saxophone quartet.
