To show their appreciation of his services as Master during 2014, the brethren of St Laurence Lodge presented W Bro Derek Tatters with the gift of a ‘Racing Day Experience’ at Thruxton Race Track in Hampshire.
Thruxton Race Track is one of the longest tracks in the country at 2.4 miles and is also one of the fastest tracks in England, used by many famous drivers (including Derek).
Despite the fact that Derek chose the wettest, coldest day he could for the event, which was the 29th May 2015, W Bros John Waite and Lawrie Morrisson went along to marvel at Derek’s driving skills. They were amazed by his expertise and the fact that he got round the Thruxton race track many times without hitting anything.
Derek drove a Porsche Cayman and a Formula Renault single seater racing car, both of which were fitted with video cameras. Below is in-car video footage of him driving the Porsche.
It was a very good day despite the weather and a few photographs were also taken, which can be seen below.
