At this second St Laurence meeting of 2014, Brother Ade was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason.
The Master of the Lodge, W Bro Derek Tatters, was ably assisted by his Officers and a number of Past Masters, which provided variety and interest and will hopefully have made a lasting impression on Brother Ade.
Our Assistant Provincial Grand Master, W Bro Nigel Catchpole PSGD, paid an official visit at this St Laurence meeting and presented a certificate to one of our members, W Bro Geoff Dowding, to celebrate his 60 years in Freemasonry. W Bro Nigel recounted some memorable moments in W Bro Geoff’s past and also presented him with a personal congratulatory letter from the RW Provincial Grand Master. W Bro Trevor Larkin, who himself has completed more than 60 years in Freemasonry, then presented W Bro Geoff with an engraved decanter on behalf of the lodge together with a personal gift of his own.
Also during the meeting, VW Bro Brian Procter was made an Honorary Member of the Lodge in appreciation of his past support and ongoing friendship.
The Lodge Almoner reported, amongst other matters, on the happy news that funding from the Masonic Samaritan Fund had been made available to assist in financing specialist physiotherapy treatment for the young son of one of our members. The assistance will be life changing for this little boy and more information, together with a short video can be found here.
After the Lodge was closed in peace and harmony, the brethren dined together at the festive board, which provided a perfect ending to a great day.
